Welcome to my breadmaker review site.
It’s Frank by name, Frank by nature.
So, why buy a breadmaker ?
- For the simple joy of baking at home without the usual hard work and mess.
- Enjoy tasty bread with better flavours.
- Full control of salt levels.
- No preservatives.
- Cater for special diets e.g. gluten-free.
- Saving money.
For me, I like the idea of waking up to the aroma of fleshly baked bread.
Once I made the decision to purchase a breadmaker, I started some extensive research into which one to buy. Here, I would like to share my findings with you in the following review.
Firstly, I had to define what factors to consider when buying a breadmaker. It had to be…
- Easy to use.
- Quiet.
- Produce excellent quality bread.
- Value for money.
As I wanted a breadmaker which was going to last a few years, I opted for a popular brand name. Of course, this does not guarantee a good product but after some initial research, it was apparent that the Panasonic breadmaker was and is highly regarded.
For this year, 2011, Panasonic have introduced a new line-up of breadmakers to replace their best-selling Panasonic SD-256 and SD-257 models. In summary, the new breadmakers incorporates the features of the previous models with some additional modes.
- SD-2500 – this is the base model replacing the SD-256 and now with a new gluten-free bread mode, new speciality mode, new jam and compote mode.
- SD-2501 – replaces the SD-257 and has all the features of the SD-2500 model with an additional raisin and nut dispenser.
- SDZB-2502 – this is the top of the range breadmaker and has all the features of the SD-2501 model with a stainless steel body and an additional yeast dispenser.
As you can see from the summary points above, the new line-up of Panasonic breadmakers have a common set of features. So, for the purpose of this review, I will concentrate on the intermediate model, the SD-2501, which happens to be my favourite as well.
